All about Staffordshire County, Midlands, UK.

Staffordshire is a county in the heart of the UK, in the West Midlands. Home to many of the UK's finest attractions, scenery, towns and cities, entertainment and countryside, Staffordshire is indeed a truly unqie place to visit.

Staffordshire Towns and  Cities

The largest city is Staffordshire is Stoke on Trent, an industrial town of many years. Predominantly an industrial city, and well know for its Pottery industry, but also for Staffordshire Oatcakes, the Regent Theatre, and numerous other attractions. Lichfield is also a main city, and is a complete contrast to Stoke on Trent in that it is an old market town steeped in architecture and history. Lichfield is a popular tourist destination due to it being the home of LichfIeld Cathedral, Dr Jonhnsons Birthplace, Art Galleries, Fine Dining, the Garrick Theatre, a huge Park and play area, and numerous other attractions. Lichfield is widely considered as the most picturesque and traditional settlement in Staffordshire. 

The county town of Stafford is also well worth a visit. A charming mix of commercial, industrial and Historic, it is home to Stafford Castle, Shugborough Hall, and is just outside Cannock Chase National Park .It is the fourth largest settlement in staffordshire, closely behind Tamworth, Stoke on Trent, and Newcastle Under Lyme. There are other numerous towns and villages which are well worth a visit, such as Leek, Rugely, Cannock Town, and many others.

There are certainly no shortage of family attractions, walking sites, scenery, stunning countryside, history and more in staffordshire.  You may not fit it all in !

For the family and the kids, Alton Towers and Drayton Manor are unmissable and a great family day out.  There's also Go Ape in Cannock Chase, a high wire adventure in the trees. Continuing the monkey theme, Trentham Monkey Forest is a unique environment where you can roam free with 140 Barbary macaques monkeys who have the freedom of the entire park,  and regularly interact with the visitors.
